Our Grandson's basket ball team had a big event last night. On of our local West Florida tv stations broadcast their game.

I had to get in on the Photography fun and took several photos.

The kids were in their glory and won the game.

My grandson #23 is the starting center for his team a Junior at age 17 and a solid 6'-5" and around 190 lbs.

Naturally, very proud of this wonderful young man.

Both of these shots are really good. You took advantage of your knowledge of the game to be in the perfect position to get the action. Hope you will be able to shoot more of his games this year.

Thanks everyone, I have had my Nikon D-5000 for a little over a year moving up from a Cannon P & S.

In my opinion., I have learned a lot and have so much more to learn.

I want to give credit to those on the Hog whom have offered advice, taken the time to look.

I especially want to acknowledge Erv, He is a very talent unselfish man, who has spent a lot of time answering my dumb questions via email, critiquing photos I have taken and sent to him. He is an a fantastic photographer, and so willing to help a newbie like me, I value him as a very good friend and hope some day to meet in person.

I now have the bug, I am looking at the D300s (Erv has one if its good enough for Erv its good enough for me..ha) to upgrade, and yes I know the camera does not always make the great photo it takes someone skilled to know lighting, composition, etc., etc.

I am honored to have found the Hog Forum and the many wonderful Photographers who so willing help those of us sticking our toe into our attempts to learn Photography.

Thanks for looking and your comments they are greatly appreciated.

I will offer one more sentimental comment, I was raised without a father..I always dreamed of a family, My wife and I celebrated our 50th Anniversary last March, We have three children two boys and a daughter and the three grandson's.

God has blessed me and answered my prayers, I have a family...I take great pride as all of you do in yours, and snapping photos of my grand sons in sports is a dream come true. That along is worth owning a camera it makes memories for all of us to enjoy.

Blessings.

Thanks very much, I still have so very much to learn.

I was using my Nikon D-5000, a Nikor 50mm f1.8 lens, iso @ 1600, shutter 1/500, Thanks to the Officials, I was allowed to get near the floor and hoop area to stand or knee, just had to watch that one of those big teenagers did not use me for a bowling pin Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then..ha ha.

Thanks for looking and your nice comments.
