Nice to see the waterfalls. I lived in SD the first 20 yrs of my life and did not realize we had waterfalls in the Black Hills. Guess I need to get out more. :-D Thanks for sharing these.
Beautiful .. Love the middle one especially.
Thanks. I wanted the falls to pop out of the trees and shadows, so spot metered on the white water, and the surrounding areas cooperated and got darker.
I loved viewing your pics! I was out there the first time in the 70's and saw these falls, I was only 14 and my pics weren't nearly as great as yours. Spearfish Canyon is a great drive in the back of a 70's Ford pickup with an open topper, seeing where you've already been...
Thanks for stirring good old memories!
Waterfalls are so Majestic, the pictures are beautiful.
I wish falls like these were near me.
Comments:
#1 and 2-underexposed or printed dark
#1 try printing it as a vertical
#2 too much dark forest, not enough waterfall.
#3 Lovely
Suggestions:
zoom in on parts of falls #3
Try slow shutter speeds (1/15 sec or slower) for great effects.
Need tripod for this.
These falls should give you many great pix.

Yes. It has a faery quality to in, no?
Hi, Len. Appreciate your comments/suggestions, but these came out exactly as I wanted them. I wanted the surrounding area of the falls to show in #1. I wanted the falls to be surrounded by deep shadow in #2. It was a loooong hike through the woods and up/down terrain for an O.F. like me, and I wasn't carrying a tripod. If I had, I would probably have taken a couple of shots with a slower shutter speed, but likely would have used this one anyway. It was as slow as I could get away with hand-held. This waterfall was unique in that it came over the top like little geysers
Yeah those are pretty cool!
