With the interest in Ring lights & power ratings, I am posting the spec sheet from one of my Lester Dine ring/point lights (I have 3 of them)... This is the unit where the power unit mounts in the cameras hot shoe (as opposed to the older units that plugged into wall outlets). This company was the one that introduced ring lights ( http://www.dinecorp.com/?page_id=2 )... The older models cane be found on eBay & if you have the $$$, new ones can be bought directly from the Dine Corp...The model I use is a Thyristor version that can be used in either an "auto" mode or manual ( with adjustable power from full down to 1/16th)

These Guide Numbers (GN) are in feet, not meters. For comparison purposes, divide by 3.25 to arrive at GN meters.

Which would make the ring light's GN 15.38 in meters @ ISO 100 & the point light's GN would be 29.23 in meters @ ISO 100...Not bad for a $25 outlay...Thanks for the clarification Douglass !!

I think in "feet", but have to calculate & compare in "meters".

Yep that puts it right at the same GN as the Pentax Ringflash. I wonder if my Lester Dine model is the same GN. Mine is the one with the control box that plugs into the wall.
