On a recent visit to New Orleans I visited a graveyard one morning at sunrise. While photographing the graveyard I came across this statue of a grieving woman and it really moved me.

Nice captures! That is a moving piece. I, too, love to photograph cemeteries. What is often forgotten is that of most buried there, there is no one left who knew them. Sad when you think about it.

There was a piece about a woman in Florida (I think) who was a hypchondriac, driving her family crazy about always believing she was sick. When she died, her headstone said, "I TOLD YOU I WAS REALLY SICK." Detailed in the book: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=1400217173&searchurl=an%3Drees%26bsi%3D0%26ds%3D30%26tn%3Di%2Btold%2Byou%2Bi%2Bwas%2Bsick

Thanks for your sharing you shots!

HEART and jeanbug, I'm glad you liked my photos. HEART, I liked your statement about the hypochondriac.

What is the story behind the Fire Company photo?

MagicFad - All I could find out was that there were several volunteer fire departments, and other groups, including Jefferson Fire Company that established "group" tombs for their members. The Jefferson gravesite was the most ornate. Thankyou for the question.
