As per the chart posted above, I concur that the YN-560 (similar to YN-565) is more powerful than SB-600. Where did you find GN 58 (meters)?
I am going to create an FAQ based on this chart, to assist photographers in comparing speedlight output.
I'm copying & pasting my response from the original thread on the "Main" forum...I'm also including a shot of my macro lighting equipment...My go-to ring/point light has a GN of 50 @ ASA 100 & the point light is 95 @ ASA 100 (ASA is the film equivalent of ISO)
I've got ring lights, ring/point lights, "O" ray flash unit & LED ring light....My advice, go with the ring or ring/point light for convenience, portability & power...I've attached an image of my units. BTW, what camera system are you using ? (helps with making suggestions)...My ring/point lights are the brand that made them popular (Lester Dine) back in the 1980's...You can find them used on eBay for a lot less than new offerings...

All I can say re. the YN-560 is..Forgetting all the technical jargon & comparisons, I have had mine for a year & it has more than enough power for my needs. I have a very large back yard & it can illuminate the entire yard no problem.
Anyway, I bought a dedicated macro flash yesterday (JY-670), so I wan't have to use the YN-560 for macro work now.

Way down the list is my SB-400. For macro, my starting point is ASA 400, 1/200 shutter duration, & f/22, with my flash @ 1/16-manual. Of course, that's for winter light in Portland OR, in January. Of course, it changes for subject matter, time of day, location, weather.... etc. This is diffused with a DIY softbox & working distance for 1:1. So if my "mighty mouse" can do it, the others above it can as well.

That JY-670 only has a GN of 14....Seriously underpowered...I have a very similar unit (same basic features) with a GN of 10...Also, if it's like what I have, the flash duration is only 1/100th of a second....Again, not very effective...

Ring Flashes have a much lower GN rating than regular hot shoe flashes the $550.00 Pentax ring flash only has a GN of 16 meters at ISO100
Ring-flashes and softboxes are not meant to illuminate at distance, so standard GN comparison is moot.
My O-Flash diffuser attached to my SB-600 would generate a pitiful GN.

For variable angle speedlights, you must use only 35-mm angle for comparison. "105-mm" is speedlight set to telephoto mode (narrow angle).

Ah... light goes on....
The "correct" flash output for macro at the same distance/settings is identical; the fractional setting might differ depending on the power of the unit.
Many thanks for starting this thread. Very informative and helpful.
