Oh, and by the way, there hasn't been a mass shooting since the gun buyback.

A very carefully edited, and biased load of crap.Every statistic regarding crime and gun crime in particular in that video is false. I suspect it was made by the US gun lobby to promote their cause, why else would it have an American voice over. But it is lies. Personally I don't care one way or the other what the US do with their gun laws - it's your country , you work it out. But I strenuously object to lies being told about our gun laws and the result of them.
And before you jump up and down and say I don't know what I'm talking about - my son is an Inspector of police in Australia and is on the front line, he says he is less worried about being fired at than ever before. Our gun laws work - if you want less killings by guns.

Don't bring us into your political views thanks. I'm feeling pretty safe in my home. If you took a poll in this country right now I know what the majority would say about our gun laws and I would happily vote with them. :)

The video is over two years old and features interviews with Australians. It appears that some people in Australia are not happy with the law just as we have people that are not happy with our gun laws.

The poster did not create the video and there doesn't appear to be any information about who did create it. To assume the voice over is American is jumping to conclusions. I can find statistics that agree with the video and statics that make it look like a pack of lies. Who knows?

I do agee with you on one point. No one here should be telling you guys how to live your lives and we don't want to hear it from you either. Americans are proud of our "mind your own business" tradition. It is a shame we can't get our government to understand that approach.

Less killing by any means is the desired result. Despite the recent mass killings we have had a steady decline in our murder rate over the past decade.

How refreshing. Australians, rightly so, seem to want to mind their own business and stay out of our gun debate. Brits, on the other hand, seem to look for every possible opportunity to stick their self-declared superiority where it doesn't belong. This comment comes merely from observing the many posts on gun control over the last month.

Yep, November 11th last year I was injured fighting off 2 crack head burglars at 1 in the afternoon; a Sunday engraved in my memory.

Since then I sleep very poorly even though I lock the front
gate. Every creak and noise wakes me and I'm left wondering
am I going to have to defend myself again.

It's really sh1tting me off.

I love my country, but the politicians and media here are
a bunch of female sex organs.

It would be quite a treat just once to hear a totally unbiased report on whether gun control lowers crime rates or not. It seems as if, depending on a writers particular point of view, statistics can be found to back it up either for or against. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle?

Once again if the Poms and the Yanks want to fight it out on this ridiculous gun control debate go for it. We have staid out of it so don't drag us in. I know what is fact and what is fiction and I'm happy where I live. Look we fight wars together for Gods sake. We all live in free society's that crave for the same thing so chill out and be happy that we are allies and not enemy's.

An Americanism that's appropriate about now:

Shucks.
