Buy quality lens and you will never be disappointed. Buy a 119.00 lens, be disappointed and sell it for 50.00 on Ebay. Buy a quality lens and get the majority of your money back if you ever decide to sell it. Just my thinking.

Does your rudeness and conceit have any limits? Your reply was worthless.

Second that.seems as if JR1 very seldomly has anything constructive to say on here.

Actually, he just helped me today with a perplexing problem.

I would love having one of those high dollar lenses but I don't have the bucks. I do have a Phoenix 500mm f6.3 mirror lens and I use it very often. I paid $300 for it new at Porter's camera. I also have a Rokinon 8mm f3.5 fisheye. I love that one too. And a Rokinon 85mm f1.4. You guessed it I love that one too. All three are manual only and the 500mm and 85mm are tricky to focus but I haven't gotten a bad picture that wasn't my fault. You get what you paid for but I believe I got more than I paid for with these and I love using them. No I wouldn't think of comparing them to a lens that cost half as much as my car but unless your life depends on your camera equipment I wouldn't hesitate recomending these for people like me who just want to have fun taking good pictures and don't own a bank. Note I might have thought otherwise when I only had a film camera but bad digital pictures don't cost a thing and can be deleted quickly.

I have a Phoenix 500MM mirror lens. I paid $3 something for and I love it! It can be hard to focus and everything is manual but then i grew up using manual lenses and cameras. I liked it so much I bought a Rokinon fish eye and I fell in love with it, too. I also have a Rokinon 85MM F1.4 lens. All manual only and very fun at a moderate cost. the 85MM is very hard to focus but still good results. I even got an adapter for my very old Spiratone Protragon 100MM F1.4. I use them all on my Canon EOS and just like with women you don't have to have the most expensive ones to have a great time.

how many of you have taken your mirror lens,a monopod, or a tripod out for an afternoon and shot 100 or so pics?

I have! I don't use my monoppd because I am just clumsy with it. I use the mirror a lot but I also carry my 18-55 and 55-250 Canon lenses. I like the small zoom a whole lot but the 55-250mm doesn't match up to the smaller zoom. I have even thought about replacing it but I don't notice the difference so much until I look at other pictures next to those I took with the larger zoom. I like a wide variety lenses so I have a better chance of having the wrong lens on the camera when that special picture pops up. It can be a challenge to get a good picture with the wrong lens but that's part of the fun. I know if I was faster I could change lenses but I'm just old and slow but I have as much fun as anyone and that is what counts.

Here is my 2 cents and a couple shots of mine taken between 60 and 75 yards with my Sigma 18-250 which I bought from one of our good members for $350.00. For those of you that can afford to spend $1,000.00 to $2,000 per lens I'm happy for you. But for the one on this site that likes to rub it in the nose of us that can not afford it do this, well you can straight up kiss my ass. Will the shots make the next publication of national Geographic (hell No) and do I care (hell no). I like them and that is all that matters.

Yes great pictures! And I agree with you that you don't have to have the most expensive lenses on the market. Every year I see some of the most expensive camera equipment you can find at the Quad Cities Air Show and fully half of them clearly haven't a clue on how to use them. And there are those pros who take great equipment and take great pictures! Yes I get some great pictures, too but I have more fun.
