Did a bit of shooting today, most of it in the house before going to church.

Made the mistake of using my 35mm prime nearly wide open for many shots. Still not feeling great and my hands are not steady enough to maintain focus with such a narrow depth of field.
But I did get a few that I liked.

Used me grid in the hall, this time pulling out the silver reflector to fill her face a bit. Color Efex B&W conversion (tonal enhancer)

I have to agree with dirtpusher, 4 is the one for me. Great light, focus, pose, and a pretty girl. Who could ask for more?

#4 is good. Although, I like the mystery that the shadows create in the first two.

I've got my son as well; he rarely stands in front of a camera lens though.

Thank you all for your time and comments.

I'd have to say that #4 is my favorite of the group. The umbrella is nearly touching her face for this one.

Ahhh. My true love, hard light portraits. I thought it was a simple matter of just pointing the speedlight at the subject and was getting nothing but crap.

Thank you.

Now that I am feeling much better, I plan to start really shooting.
I see one of my peers getting interviewed, getting published in magazines and while happy for her--I wonder if it's time for me to attempt to get my 15 minutes.

On a different note, I broke the rules with the clothes we were wearing. It was an unplanned shoot, though. But how about that shirt I am wearing? I get one of those every time someone visits from Indonesia. This time the wife brought back a few of them.

It is funny that you mentioned your shirt because I thought to myself, "what a cool shirt". I also thought to myself what kind of background would go best with that shirt?
