I'm Pat from WV's eastern panhandle. I've been using p&s camera's for years until I bought an old canon d60 from my girlfriend to see if I could put up with all the details of using a dslr before spending money on a new one. I've been reading the boards a bit looking for new tips and whatnot but just now decided to sign up. I'm trying to motivate myself to learn more about post-processing, but for the most part I just take hundreds of pictures and end up with maybe a dozen or so good ones.
I like number 2 and 3 alot. Welcome to the forum.
Post your pics on the pitures page and you will get a ton of feedback .

Hi, I just joined this forum today. I have been doing photography for many years however. I have a couple of suggestions for you:
1. Crop, crop and more cropping. It is best done in the camera
but can be done in post production software.
2. Get some post production software. It will help you to
make your photos come alive and actually help you get
what you saw.
Post production software is not an antidote for a poor photo (and I am not saying your photos are poor). It is best to get the best possible photo in your camera and tweak it in post production, but you can also save a poor photo from your camera with post production. Also, with post production software you can let loose with your creativity and create something totally new. It is amazing. There are software programs out there that are free and some that will cost hundreds of dollars. I personally use Photoshop Elements which is less than a hundred dollars and can do some amazing things. Hope this little critique was informative for you. Dennis
Welcome to the group, puppeteer...nice shots..especially #1 and #3.
Welcome. #1 is my favorite. I like the way the foreground looks like it's just waking up. I'm sure it's just an optical illusion or maybe it's just my monitor, but if you look at it long enough, the forground seems to get lighter and more pronounce.
