Question about L bracket etc.

Blurry eyed, Nikonian or anyone else that can help. I have a Nikon D300 with a SB700 speed light. I made Lord V's diffuser, but I need the L Bracket and what looks to be a cord to connect my speed light to the camera. I am just wondering if these cords/ brackets are all universal, or do I need to buy one specific to my camera? I hate ordering online for fear of something not fitting. Also, do you know what size adapter I would need to reverse my Tamron 90mm onto my Nifty Fifty 1.4? Or vice versa? I have the extension tubes and a step down ring and reversing ring to connect the 50mm to my extension tubes. Would you do the 50-90 combo???

The L brackets are pretty much one size fits all the off camera flash cord is not you need one that is for Nikon so you do not lose the auto features on your flash. I do not know what size the filter size is for your nifty fifty but all you need to do is get a reversing ring that matches the filter size of both so say the nifty fifty has a 52mm and the Tamron has a 58mm you would need a 58mm to 52mm reverse adapter.

Using a fifty on your 90mm Macro would give you right at 3:1 mag I use a 55mm on my 105mm and works great.

Just to get started place the 50mm reversed onto your tubes and start shooting. This will give you a taste of what's to come. I just posted a few photos using the 60mm reversed onto the 100mm. I don't have a fancy flash or bracket as the flash is still mounted on top of the camera, just crank it up http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-91046-1.html. Just so you know your reverse set up requires your lens to be 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the subject to photograph. Your reverse set up does not focus in and out like your macro lens. It does, but more like 1 inch to focus in and out.

The L-grip flash bracket that many of us use is found here:

I purchased my Hot-Shoe Extension Cord from my local camera store. You must designate Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, etc.:

L brackets are universal unless you are getting a RRS one then they are made for each camera which in my opinion is better plus they are really high quality. But your budget will determine the route you take.
