Try Craigslist. I got all three of my Speedlites there. I got my last 580EX II for $250. The guy was visiting our area with his young daughter and the young girl was competing in a junior beauty pageant. They were from out of town and didn't bring enough cash to advance to the next round so the father was desperate to sell it to keep his daughter in the running. You won't always find a sweet deal like this, so you should expect to pay $300-$350 for a used one. Maybe $350 for one that includes the box and everything, and perhaps $300 for one without the box and manual. I got my other 580EX II for $300 with box. You just have to be patient.

I always pick their brain to see if they sound like someone that knows about photography. If they can't rattle off what camera body they use and a few of the lens model numbers off the top of their head, or if they seem clue-less about photography I walk away. I avoid helping thieves. If they have the original receipt, even better.

Thanks for reply, been all over Craigs list. Nothing in my area. Good advice. Have a couple of leads, including one from a fellow UHHer. I will post up if it goes thru

Be careful buying from UHH members too. I've seen a few items for sale from brand new members and their locations are in hiding. There's no way I'd buy something from them unless they sent the item to me first, and trusted me to pay them later. LOL.
