About 2-3 mm long.

F/22 @ 1/160 with Strobe @ M 1/4 power

105G @ 1:1 with 68mm extension 1.9:1 my estimate, but this was cropped

Are you noticing a loss in DOF with the 68mm added to your lens?

Yes. I did not expect to struggle with this as much as I have. There are times when I think my eyesight is just not adequate. I would imagine your experimentation into lens stacking is even more challenging. At least I get some automated functions.

You would not think it would be as difficult as it is you have a DOF loss plus a natural loss of light when using tubes so it makes a big difference actually all you with those fancy automatic lens should have less problems with stacking all you would lose is DOF and working distance.

I'm using full manual to focus with the tubes and the reverse lens stack. When I use a Full set of tubes the Auto focusing is slower like I don't get 100% connection, a loss of power. When I hear my lens and camera struggle to focus it sends shivers down my spine, after all this is my baby. And with my latest set up the macro 60mm reversed onto the 100mm it's just to much weight to expect my camera to focus back and fourth. It actually just as easy to manual focus for me as I just run that lens out to max. focus and leave it. I am experiencing light loss with the stacked lens Only because my lens are shadowing the subject, well more like Blocking the light. The need to bring the flash forward is the only solution I see.

I've been having a little problem as the subjects are so small and I don't get as much light thru the reverse lens setup. I'm going to adjust my view finder up one notch and see if that helps. I wear glasses and it's time for me to up the scripted. I really need to increase my view finder for the water drop shots

Martin: are you referring to a diopter adjustment or level of illumination adjustment of the viewfinder?

Are you using live view or the viewfinder to focus? I would think that live view would take too long with moving critters.

The light issue is why I have not done a lot of stacking of lens I made up a reverse mount for my lens before I ever got a macro lens but working distance made it difficult to light after I made the new softbox I found that reversing my 55mm works out just right.

What's the highest magnification on the 55 reversed?

Ah... ok. Maybe I need to dig up the nifty 50 & find a coupling attachment.
