While on my trip up the Mississippi to photo capture Eagles, I spotted a number of Common Goldeneye Ducks in the river behind the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN.
During the mid-day roosting time for the big birds, I thought I would try to sharpen my skills on a smaller target so I focused in on this Goldeneye.
Photos were taken with my Canon T2i w/EF 100-400 L Lens at 400mm, TV @ 1/1250, Spot Metering, ISO 320.
Images were cropped and PP in iPhoto.

Good Job! We don't get to see too many of the Goldeneyes over here! Thanks for including the EXIF data
Thanks birdpix.
Here is Mrs. Common Goldeneye in flight.
The EXIF is the same except for the ISO that bumped up to 400.

I see these on the Delaware R. while watching for eagles, but can only enjoy them with binoculars. Too far for pics.
Interesting series. Thanks for sharing.

Terrific Tom, the third one in the first series really caught my attention, seeing the water droplets in the air like that. Great capture. The second one looks like the duck is pushing a lot of water in front of him, I like that image and have never seen one at that angle and surprised at the water being pushed ahead of his body
