I have used PS elements for years to organize my pictures. Somehow, my pictures have multiplied and my PS catalogue is a mess. I recently installed light room 4 and much prefer it for organization. I'm deleting pictures in light room, but when I switch to PS, I get the "reconnect the files" messages. My current strategy is to clean the catalogue up in light room, uninstall PS, and then reinstall PS. My hope is that my pictures will then be reasonably organized in PS and light room and I won't have crazy duplicates an missing files. Will this work?

I've never taken the plunge and had LR organize my images. I have a My Pictures folder with lots of other folders inside that. I'll be interested in seeing the responses you get.
Don't use more than one program to organize your photos! Use LR and if you want to edit in PSE use the Edit In option.

I agree with using LR for your photo index, but why delete and then reinstall PSE? I moved a few pics outside of PSE, selected their images in the PSE organiser, clicked on "cancel" when PSE wanted to search for them, right clicked on one of the images and click "remove" from the PSE catalogue.
Sounds longwinded but actually not a long process, and saves any headaches with reinstalling PSE. Your proposed methodology would work, but you would have to reset preferences etc. and would you not be asked to register again?
