I have just started trying to use green screen / backdrop technique, and am having trouble getting my subject's hair lines cleanly when eliminating the green screen background. Any tips would be appreciated. I'm using Corel Paintshop Pro X3. Thanks!

been thru the same thing move the subject futher away from the screen and adjust the lighting the lighter and shiner the hair the more the green will reflect on it mainly you have to play around with it chroma key is not easy to use but the results can be amazing good luck

Thanks for the info. My wife's hair is the most difficult, as it is shiny silver grey, and does not lay flat on her head, so there is a lot of hair with background showing through. I'll check out the software!

It's a very difficult task but you'll find instructions on how to do it with PhotoShop on the Internet. Since PaintShop Pro is a sort of clone of PhotoShop, the same technique works on it although the tools may be called something different but similar. It's tedious and time consuming.

Personally, I bought software called Green Screen Wizard Pro for $199, always shoot with my subject 6 feet in front of the green screen, and GSW totally eliminates all green from within hair or even thin material, such as a bridal veil. It has some easy tools to swipe over the subject just in case there's any leakage. I wouldn't even attempt green screen without this software but you may not want to have the additional expenditure.

I assist a photographer who just bought the Green Screen Wizard and it is a tremendous help in removing green from tiny weird places! I love it and think its totally worth the price!

How about this:

It's almost impossible to key a single hair, and remove the spill.
BUT, you can re-color them and only your hairdresser will know for sure.

Ditto, color-refraction on the edges of... well anything.

This is my technique (I use it use it every day, many times).
