Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a website builder that specializes in photography. I am looking to show my photo portfolio as well as sell prints and photo books I create. I've googled this issue, but am skeptical about random "best" lists. So, I'd very much appreciate recommendations from actual photographers. Thanks for your help!

viewbook, zenportfolio ir artistrising.

all are good. I use Viewbook and Artistrising. Artistrising is connected to art.com. On viewbook, you can link the photos to motophoto and let people buy them. you can also create downloading capabilities.

Shutterfly has some good services available:

Weebly also has services where you can create your own website and sell photos (or anything else.):

I use zenfolio. Very user friendly, designed specifically for photographers. Lot's of bang for your buck. Poke around my site (in my profile) to see. If you do go with zen, use this referral code for a small discount VYT-W4V-W5V. Good luck.

I think either of these will do what you want -- both are excellent. Just depends on what you want.

I use Photocrati and fine art america. They are linked together since fine art gives the customer matting and framing choices. You do not get involved with shipping, matting etc. Just supply the photos. It is a good place to start and a good place to network if this is the direction you wish to go in.

I have tried several but found a book from RC Concepcion, "get your photography on the web" which is a step by step tutorial on building a web site for photographers. He does it with WordPress, The book is available from Peachpit Press, and www.aboutrc.com :http://www.aboutrc.com/get-your-photography-on-the-web/

I use godaddy and design my own site so I have the ability to upgrade whenever I feel like it as well as have the ability to accept paypal for purchases and direct people to my studio where i an photograph them. It is easy to use and very inexpensive especially when you are just starting out. it does have some limitations but you can opt for a more expensive plan and design your own header to put in there.

Fine Art America and Smugmug are nice. I also sell on Etsy. I am building a new site... the only things I don't like about other places handling my work is that they mark it up, sell it higher and there is no choice of printing company, etc. It is cheaper for me if I am notified (through Paypal) I sold something and I can personalize as needed - and can ship myself or have my printer ship direct to customer.

You might want to look at www.sitewelder.com. It does cost money but it offers flexibility.
