Need glasses to view the LCD screen on my camera but I don't like to use them to look thru the viewfinder. Can I purchase non perscription magnifiers with flip up lens??

There is a loupe for the screen. (Hoodloupe)

All the flip ups I have seen require a pair of spectacles to clip onto.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0027J1A6U/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00I bought these, but I cannot find any with a built in frame. My dentist uses one but I think it cost a bomb.
I wear contacts, but I don't need them all the time, so I got flip-ups.

I use flip-up magnifiers for my embroidery work.
But if I'd flip them out of the way for looking through the viewfinder, they'd actually be IN the way.
It will take a bit of getting used to, but I believe your best bet is to learn to look through the viewfinder WITH your glasses.

Esther, for what it is worth I agree with you- any other solution is cause for another problem.

That was my first thought. A cord to hang the glasses around your neck might be the answer.

Do you put a filter on your contacts to protect the lens or do you use some kind of a hood?
If a filter, is it clear, UV, 81A or what. Perhaps a CPL or maybe a ND or GND with either a hard or soft edge. Is it Sing Ray, Hightech, Cokin, Hoya, or Maurami? For sunrise and sunset, do you use a RGND?
Do they have an American warranty or are they gray market. Can we get them at B and H or do we have to pay tax and go to Adorama. Do you suggest we stay away from ebay?
Perhaps you can suggest a website for a good review!

Am I oversimplifying this?
Can't you adjust the viewfinder? Most viewfinders on DSLRs have about +/- 1½ Diopter adjustment.

I use my glasses thru the viewfinder and have no problem other than sun light from the side. Have a hat with a floppy brim and just pull that down, problem eliminated
I believe Hoodman makes glasses with individual flip-up lenses. Check out
www.hoodmanusa.com. they are called Hoodman Photoframes
I just got my hoodman glasses back.I'm free at last, free at last...

I use these when doing delicate work such as fly tying. Not expensive but they work well for what I use them for.
http://www.harborfreight.com/head-strap-magnifier-with-work-light-95890.html Never thought to use them to view an LCD because Canon can magnify the focus point 5 or 10 times but they might work well for doing that. If you try it let us know how they work.
