After viewing the discussions regarding the free CS2 software from Adobe, I thought I would add a few links that may be helpful. Many times a good piece of software is available for free when the company or developer just stops improving it or goes out of business and just abandons or gives it away. Here are just a few links I had bookmarked of this type. If you wish to try them, fine; if not just ignore.

Brings to mind a recent thread about why is software is offered free. One of my favorites was a program for making labels for rock/mineral collectors. George Campbell, owner of a one-man software development company, Ososoft, had a career change about 5 years ago. He basically said, thanks guys, I've recovered my development costs, now everyone can have the program free. Nice guy.

Surprisingly, there are many instances like that. Many developers will develop an application for themselves and then just give it away as freeware. Believe me, I use a lot of it :)
