Your photos look pretty close to 1:1 magnification or higher. A Canon 50-mm f/1.8 lens is not a macro. Are you also using extension tubes?
Yes i used the Kenko tubes stacked (3). Forgot to mention that, thanks.
Your set-up will work (obviously), but keep note of the disadvantages that you encounter. A true macro lens will eliminate or lessen many of these.
When it comes time to seriously look at a true macro lens, I suggest the Tokina 100-mm or the Sigma 105-mm. Both are excellent, and more affordably priced.
The Canon 100-mm and Canon 100-mm L lenses are also excellent, but higher priced.
All four lenses have images posted on this forum.

I stay away fron those yellow jackets. I ended up in the doctors office after five of them got me in the ankle. Had to get shots.
