How to combine several photos with different colors subtracted.

I know that this is a strange question, but I want to do something digital that I use to do easily with multiple exposures. Years ago I took some special effect photos for a customer using a red, green, and blue color filter. One exposure of same subject stacking the three exposures together. The purpose was to make moving water in the photo to sparkle with different colors but all the stationary objects to be of proper color. Much like making a color separation
negatives used in printing. I just can not seem to do this digitally. I am sure it is something simple. Please help or tell me of web site. Thanks for any and all help.
Do you have an example of what you are talking about?

Thanks for the response. This is exactly what I was talking about. I hope you or someone else can teach me how to do this.
You can do it without even using the filters, shoot 3 shots and simply use one of the channels from each shot, where nothing moves you have normal colour, where the movement is you have the various colour from the different channels.

I Googled Harris shutter effect that argusfoto said this was called and think I will be able to do this now. I will study the tutorial carefully. Thanks for all the help. UHH always has the answer for me. The spread of knowledge on this site is amazing.
Here is one I just did. The pictures were taken several years ago in Warsaw. One person swinging a firepot and the person on the right playing and instrument that sounded like a didgeridoo.
