I was just whining today to Blurryeyed about finding lots of large jumping spiders and not liking the results of my photo ops, what a whinny ass. Don't worry he didn't pat me on the head. Anyway my favorite spot for spiders is about 7 miles down the road and I had already been there yesterday to find yet another Large Female Phidippus regius, the most common in the large type that I'm finding. I decided to stick it out here at the house and clean a few thousand macros off the computer, mostly jumping spiders. Well taking a break I found this little guy, another Phiddipus here on my house. Not sure of the species as this fellow has a long way to grow. I got him to jump onto some moss and had a little shoot out. Fired off around 40 shots.
These turned out much better than the larger forms from this last week. I guess I'll stop whining.......
The last photo is him climbing on my arm.. Cute Little Fellow

Want some cheese with that whine? You deserve a block or two for these beauties.

Did I mention I HATE SPIDERS?

Image #5 is outstanding! Time to consider a controlled, illuminated background.

Thanks, I hold the moss in one hand a shoot with they other. I have to keep spinning the moss as the spider walks constantly. Try focusing on a walking spider using one hand. I just started trying this last week to get better backgrounds. But I get so distracted trying to focus My hand drops down or I have to turn my arm inside out to get a shot. If I get to close to my body he jumps onto me. I find once I take them off of their structure they roam like crazy I guess trying to find their way home. I would love to set up a studio shoot and get the perfect background, but afraid you would have to freeze the spiders and I'm not willing to go that far. I'll come up with something if giving enough time

I hope that I am not overstepping boundaries here, but after we get you squared away on your bracket we are going to start working on PP.

Ok Nikonian72, oh I mean Blurryeyed. Sometimes I like them a little dark. Remember Baby steps.

Hey Martin, I thought I'd ask if you can use this bracket, I cut it down and made some changes to it but it works very good for holding the camera steady I have a couple of brackets and am not using this one right now, if you can use it PM me your address again
Roger.....

You're getting close to where you want to be on those eyes.

I just have to get in closer and I'm fixing to fix that real soon. On the 15th the bits and pieces should start arriving.

Wonderful shots as always. I normally really like dark/black backgrounds, but the little hairs on the head are what gives these cuties their personality. Please don't lose that. :)
