I took this aphid on one of my Lilies
Aphid
Before the crop
I like the Stamen better than the aphid.

Hi fstop22 Thanks for your comment and for looking.
Your images appear to have been captured in subdued (shaded) available light. This flat lighting does not compliment your spherical subjects of aphid & stamen, nor provide decent DoF.
We all started this way. Now, many of us are using commercial or DIY speedlight illumination set-ups, which allow controlled lighting bias, stop-action shutter, true colors, and increased DoF.
This forum is a good venue to see several different macro set-ups, and ask general equipment & technique questions, as well as questions to specific macro-photographers.
Welcome to the TMPF. We look forward to seeing more of your macro-work.
P.S. - When possible, please include brief description of equipment and settings used to capture image.

Me too... good focus on the aphid though, even with bad lighting.

Thanks for comments, I now have a ring flash and hope to use it more when the better weather comes and hope this will improve the shots.

Hi sford122 As I replied to Nikonion72 I hope to get better pictures now I have a ring flash. I will just have to practice a lot.

Hi Nanaval
Your ring flash should help immensely. I'm still trying different diffusers/lighting set-ups myself and have a long way to go. You will get great advice from the more experienced macro-shooters... bug/spider/bee whisperers as we like to call them. You will have fun and love it! I look forward to seeing your work.

Hi sforn122 I will have to keep reading and practicing. :)
Thanks Drigby1 for your comment and for looking
