Had the pleasure of my granddaughter yesterday so seized the chance of a couple of pics, although she wasn't too interested.
All c&c's welcome good, bad or indifferent.

Thanks for all the comments on my previous posts.

Stunning little model there lez68, No2 is my favorite of the set. Just shows the attention span of a child. Very nice work.

I like the almost pastel quality of the 1st shot...soft but still sharp. And then the more contrasty and brighter treatment is a good change-up. Good job.

Ok...bucking the trend here.

* Shot#1 has the "deer in the headlights" look; possibly flash on camera?

* Shot #1 Background is dirty gray.

* Shot #2: Same crit as #1 and the background is a bit wrinkled and looks bad.

* Shot #3: same as the others and shadow on backdrop.

In all three the eye position or expression is strange..like she's not engaged.

In all three the catchlight is just about eye center.

What did you use for flash?

Don't take this too hard...it's hard to remember all this when you are pulling the trigger but keep trying.

If you really want to improve, I'd suggest the ebook by Wayne Radford called "Portraiture tips and techniques.

If you read it and put some of it into practice...you will see vastly different results.

Thanks perlin. I would have loved to show her smile off but she was having none of it. Maybe next time.
