The pelican pics are Sigma 120-400. The remote track is Sigma 70-700 f2.8. Camera is D3100. User is RS.

Eastern AU is rife with bushfires just now, so there is some smoke haze. The birds just would not turn around for me. All are straight from the camera.

I have been using the 120-400 on a 60D for over a year and it is one of the best lenses you will find.

You need to find more interesting subjects

JR, why do you always have to throw a negative into your posts? This is a hobby for most of us! Be happy man! Life is to short to think like that. Enjoy life and the folks around you, we are not on this Earth that long!!

Good, Erv!
I took a look at JR's photos. Good stuff, but there's a fine line between being good at what you do, giving constructive criticism and slamming someone els'e work. That's just NOT nice. There are polite ways to say EVERYTHING. Some people learn to be great photographers, but never learn to be kind to others. One is no good without the other.
It costs more to be rude than to be polite.
The real joy of this forum is that there are some great photographers here, but also some of us who MAY or MAY NOT ever be good at it, much less great. Still we enjoy it and came here to learn, not to be slapped!

DOOK, don't take negativity too seriously. Most people who dish that out, actually mean NO harm. It's just the way they talk in real life.

Dook love the pelican shots. I think a little tighter crop would look good. We don't have these photo worthy birds in my neck of the woods so it's always great to see nice photos of them.

Thank y'all. Yes, I could have cropped, but I just wanted to post something. Guess I'm just excited about the new lenses. I know the subject matter is boring, but I'll stumble on to a better subject one day JR1 doesn't faze me. He has as much tact as a bull in a china shop, but I have a thick skin.

Just a comment. I took 56 pics on the same outing, all hand held. All were sharp except two. Why? I was too quick on the trigger & fired before OS had done its job.

Who exactly are you to judge what is interesting? And are you always snotty, or just here?
Either way...you must suck the air out of any room you walk into.
Try to be nice for a change? I promise,it won't harm you in any way.People might actually enjoy your comments instead of reading yet another snotty one.
