Purple Sandpiper

Daughter
called and said that there was a Purple Sandpiper reported at Lake Carl Blackwell (about 60 miles south). Said she could be here in 30 min. While were we looking at some Hooded Mergansers when the park employees drove up and ask if we were were looking for the sandpiper. He told us to follow him and led us to the bird. People we talked to just before this said that it was not there. Timing is everything. Very rare in Oklahoma-this is only the second confirmed sighting.

Thanks john blue. I tried for an hour to get a photo of its bright legs and feet but to no avail. It just was too busy eating It was very approachable.
