I enjoy making images of birds and their reflections on water. I actually get a rush from it ... what can I say, it's just me....
One thing that I have learned about catching a good, maybe great reflection is that while I normally try and get down to eye level as often as possible, a reflection works much better when I am above "birds eye" level
Here are few of my Bird Reflection images. Please post reflection images of your own.
Wood Duck (male)
Wood Duck (female)
Florida Mottled Duck
Mute Swan
Common Moorhen
Pied-billed Grebe (not a reflection)
Very nice work my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!
Snowy Egret (Egretta thula).
Photographed in the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve (through a chain-link fence), Huntington Beach CA.
Tripod-mounted Nikon D90 at ISO 200 with Nikkor 500-mm Reflex lens, 1/200-sec at f/10, late afternoon sun.

Well Done Bob! It is always nice to see the entire reflection included in the picture. So many people cut that off and lose a beautiful part of the composition.
Horned Grebe, diving
Horned Grebe
Black-necked Stilt
Great Egret
Australian Pelican - Pelecanus conspicillatus
Lovely images, thank you. Great to se them without being over cropped!

Superb composition.
Thank you Douglass.
I was a bit lucky in how simple I could keep it. The pelican was in full sun but the reflected background was in deep shade.
BHowdy - love that male wood duck and that is such and exquisite background reflection.
Douglass - the way that squiggly beak is pointing back at his head is great, and the single-mindedness of the egret and what he is doing. A study in concentration.
Birdpix - just love the abstract qualities of that diving grebe.

Great series. The male Wood Duck is excellent.

I agree with you on reflections.
NikonLad - I really like your unique capture of Great Egret dipping wingtip.

Thanks. That is one of my favorites, too.

I like that one too - but I don't understand how the reflection of the wingtip doesn't meet the splash properly.
There are two or three feathers fully in the water that don't meet the water in the reflection.
Has this meeting of the wingtip and water been done in postwork?
