Knights In Satan's Service, look at their costumes, hiding their true identity behind a false face, their actions on stage. No thanks.
Fact checking goes a long way and it isn't that difficult to do:
As per Wikipedia
"Stanley came up with the name as he, Simmons, and Criss were driving around New York City. Criss mentioned that he was in a band called Lips, so Stanley said something to the effect of "What about Kiss?"[18] Frehley created the now-iconic logo, making the "SS" look like lightning bolts, when he went to write the new band name over Wicked Lester on a poster outside the club where they were going to play.[19] The runic letters happened to look similar to the insignia of the Nazi SS, a symbol that is now illegal to display in Germany. Therefore, to avoid controversy, since 1979 most of the band's album covers and merchandise in Germany have used a modified version of the logo instead, with the SS represented by two backwards Zs.
The band's name has repeatedly been the subject of many rumors pertaining to its alleged hidden meanings. Among these rumors are claims that the name is an acronym for "Knights In Satan's Service", "Kinder SS", or "Kids In Satan's Service". These claims have been denied by Simmons himself."

Gene Simmons is, and always has been, of strong Jewish faith as is his Mother whom he highly respects. He certainly wouldn't start a band that is in any way related to being Knights of Satan. Secondly, KISS was already famous and very successful millionaires before the whole Satan movement began to accelerate to what it is today.
Simmons has also stated on more than one occasion that the band knew they weren't that good as musicians and many other bands can blow them away musically, but they also knew that fans go to concerts specifically to be entertained by a show that relates to them. So the band decided to make theirs the biggest show possible with every kind of lighting, sound, and costumes required to be far bigger than normal life for the fans who paid their hard-earned money to come. And their songs focus on things those fans are into like partying and sex, not Satan. I respect that business approach and so do their fans apparently because they still tour when they're over 60 years old.
I saw Gene Simmons up close 3 years ago at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchandisers) convention in Anaheim CA and he spoke to about 1,000 music dealers with business sense that was utterly amazing, hitting the nail on the head repeatedly about business, and he got a standing ovation for several minutes because of what he said, not who he is.
The Christian anti-metal-music wimps who come up with this stuff are responsible for the complete financial and spiritual downfall of Stryper, who wore yellow and black costumes and face paint, but was a Christian band on tour with Black Sabbath and AC/DC years ago in "Heaven and Hell Tours" throwing hundreds and thousands of plastic-wrapped Bibles into the audience while they played and finishing off with testimonies and altar calls. A bit much for a rock concert but it was what they felt was necessary to evangelize in hell.
Also the same wackos are behind the financial and spiritual collapse of King's X who presented a decidedly-Christian message for their first four albums until church youth leaders started telling their youth groups that they were banned from King's X concerts and the band was chopped to pieces by Christian industry magazines and radio. Now some of the band members are so soured on organized religion that they write songs against it and have become Agnostic, seeking love, understanding, and depth in ancient Indian philosophy and ancient alien research.
Thanks a lot for destroying your own from the inside out wacko middle-ages shriveled-brain mainstream Christians! What happened to love your fellowman - especially those with evangelistic outreaches?
Fortunately Christian metal survived these people and flourishes today, although it doesn't appeal to me personally. I'm not saying KISS is in any way religious but just leave them alone already. They probably still sell more "Best of KISS" CDs in a month than most crappy new garage bands sell in 5 years.
