Posting Pictures to UHH

I have a photograph that I would like to try a little editing on. However, it is an old photo and I do not have an electronic copy of it. What would be the best way to make an electronic copy? Should I take a photo of the photo, or should I scan it? are there other options that I may not know of?

Are you familiar with the editing programs? If not, by posting here and asking for the help....many results will probably happen. Scanning it would be the way to go. Then post here. Making sure to check the box "store original".

A good scanner would be best, otherwise in daylight take a picture as long as you can get it without shadows, etc interfering.

Thanks for the responses. I will try both scanning and photographing, and then once I have given the editing a shot (I have used Picasa a bit) I will post my results here and see what happens. :)

Barb...how familiar are you with pp editing software. If not, might I suggest you post your scanned photo here. Some rather experienced folk here on the Hog that might do it easier.
