I have about 500 pictures that I need to massively watermark, any software recommendations?
Instead of doing it one by one?

Why do you need to watermark 500 images at once?

Sorry I'm just wondering, Seems like a lot of work if there was going to be no payout at the end.

Your photos are already copyright protected without a watermark, but personally I wouldn't post anything you don't want to give away. Just saying...

Regardless, there are quite a few batch programs out there. Here is one:

500?? Is this for a personal website or professional one? If it is for a professional website I would highly recommend against this. Unless they are 500 images of 500 totally different things. 500 pictures of one client/subject is way to many to upload to a gallery. You will overwhelm your client base.

Both, I just feel that I need to protect them before I upload them...

Easy watermark.

Note: Just to be safe - set up an extra folder and do a couple photos in it before you go hog wild and do them all. And if you do them all, make a copy of each just in case.

The url is:

Its under Free Software. I think I will be sending a contribution now that I found out how easy it is to learn.

Watermarking is mostly used by amateurs who think they are good. Really does more to degrade the image than protect it.

Picasa will let you do what you want in its EXPORT function.

I haven't done it but I believe Lightroom4 via Web or Print modules will handle it also.

LR3 will do it. Will resize, save to a folder of choice and leave original untouched

I wanted to do the same thing with some of my photos. I use Photoshop CS4. I wrote a tutorial a few years ago on how to do it. Here is the link.

Hope it helps.

When it comes to watermarking and copyright I urge each person to look up the word Hubris.

I did look it up and don't see where it's relevant in this case. This started as a "how to" question, then when prompted the OP added he feels a need to protect his pics. This is a personal choice of how best to do this and has been extensively debated here before. No need to insult him for his choice.

Why not just upload them in a very small format so they won't be worth downloading and enlarging? I have never removed a watermark myself, but, I have seen videos of it done. It looks real easy with the right software, so watermarking is not very good protection.
