G'Day Mate,
Talk to someone in Harvey Norman's - they have charging pads - just drop you ipad on to one of them for quick charge - they may be able to help as well with cannon
hi,
what i am trying to achieve is to carry as few as possible items mainly for weight and to be able to simplify all the 'bits' :-D

I was standing around in WalMart's photo services department waiting for an 8X10 print last week and saw a cigarette lighter to (2) USB connector adapter, which I believe was by Polaroid. It was rather inexpensive, around $8.99 I think. Surely you'll be in gas-powered vehicles such as Jeeps, Toyotas, etc. with 12 volt batteries and probably cigarette lighter jacks. You may also want to make up a cigarette lighter female jack with two wires with color coded clips to attach to any car battery in case of no cigarette lighter jack being available.
A dual jack setup with (2) of those USB adapters would allow you to charge 4 units at a time.
Sounds like a great trip. Are you going with a group and/or are you traveling by train or roadway? Thanks.

Hi,
my wife and I are travelling with a small group of friends ( at least they will be when we start  ) travelling by road in a small 4x4 bus/truck 16 only plus 1 driver/guide and guide who are usually a couple but not always
you can go to odyssey overand adventures and see who they are and follow the trip on the blog
My wife did Cairo to Capetowm last year on the second last trip they did and had a ball
We get to greet and meet the locals in a special way
Looking forward to a great photographic experience as well
Thanks for the link. I checked it out - some great trips, and modestly priced. But I'm not sure I'm up to being gone for twelve weeks!

will be gone for 16 weeks if you add in the side trips b4 & after
Then likely close to four months when you add in travel to and from Asia, i.e., total house to house round trip time!

I Googled universal chargers and found lots of references. There might be something that would work for you.
