I just happen to cacth a story on TV that reminded me of what happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. A photography buddy of mine had an assistant that worked for him. He fired the assistant and all the pictures that he was selling on the internet and some private pictures got out. He would sell prints off the internet and you had to have a code to see them. There was a master type code as I called it that would give you access to all the pictures. When the guy got fired he posted the code so for a few days his site was wide open. I attempted to set up a site like him at the time but I gave up it was just too frustrating for me. So I started telling my clients that I didn,t use the internet for thier privacy(not that I couldn't fiqure out how to do it without spending alot of money and yes I am a penny pincher). So if you have the internet on your photography working computer( I have a working computer and a computer I use for the internet) what are the chances of you work getting out without your permission? And what about picture that are private such as personal picture you have done for someone else? I have been told that any computer that is hooked up to the internet can be hacked and anything on your computer can be accessed by someone else. Also does a photographer have the responabilty to make sure your clients photo don't go anywhere without them doing it thierselves? (yes my grammer and spelling stinks and I have two college degrees on the wall and don't remember even going to school forgive my grammer)

My client galleries are all password protected but,,,,,,Time and time again systems have been hacked into,,gov't, credit card companies etc. If someone takes the time and effort to hack into my site and/or zenfolio,,I guess there's a chance. I might be flattered a little that someone would think my work is worthy of their time and talent. Would a court hold me responsible for someone hacking in a stealing a photo of one of my clients??
I would hope not,,,but you never know now do you?? Would a client sue me for that?? Again, I would hope not.

I have a photography business and a web site to, the site can be set up so that only people with a password are able to get into certain folders to see the photos in it. Along with that a setting may be put in so that they will be able to download the photo to. Like you said any PC may be hacked but the time and what you have on it is the point. Who would want to hack the site and for what, is it that important at all or to them and if so just mail the photos to them instead. The site I use is very strict on things being done and is very good at doing them and making sure they are done right. Zenfolio

With good firewall and security programs, and if you are careful not to click on links from unknown sources, it is very hard for someone to hack your computer. Almost all successful attacks are against careless users.

Not to mention, the likely hood of a hacker picking your computer to target. You are in more danger of getting a virus from opening a bad email then a hacker randomly picking your computer to hack into.
