Hi all,

I would like to make a a stand-alone or self running slideshow that I can run from a DVD or Flashdrive that I can simply run from a TV or a PhotoFrame or a computer.

I have Powerpoint 2007 and the usual Windows programs.

I would appreciate any help that you can give me.

All the best,
Col.

windows has 2 programs that can help with your slideshows. I've used them both in the past.
1.windows DVD maker
2.windows live movie maker

Hi Marilyn,

Thank you very much for the help.

I had a look at Windows DVD maker but it doesn't seem to allow different time lapse for the different pictures.

So I downloaded the Windows Live Movie Maker (I didn't have it but it is a free download) and it seems to be just what I'm after. Will have a few tries with it and see how I go.

Thanks again,
all the best to you and yours,
Col

Create the PowerPoint slide show on your computer, including times, transitions, etc., and save it as a unique name. Now copy it to a thumb-drive. The computer you use for the showing must have PowerPoint on it. Plug in the thumb-drive, open PP, open file (find it on your thumb-drive, and click "Run Slideshow" at the top of the screen. Don't forget, when finished, to properly eject the thumb-drive. NOTE: You do NOT have to copy the data from the thumb-drive to the viewing computer's hard drive!

Google Powerpoint to DVD or Powerpoint to AVI. There are lots of options out there.

The best slide show I ever made was using Lightroom 4. I had 80 photos from several dozen members of our club. I was able to have each photographers name in small letters lower left. Takes bit to learn but I was so pleased.

It's really easy. Once you have your slideshow created, simply click on File, Save As. Click the down arrow and choose "Powerpoint Show" and then click on Save. That makes it a self-running slide show that will run on anyone's computer, regardless of whether or not they have Powerpoint. Copy the file (it will end with .pps) anywhere you want, and when someone double clicks to open it, it runs automatically.
