I'm going to avoid that situation by drinking enough to sleep on the 27 hour 45 min trip. I am sooooo glad I haven't had a cigarette in just over 3 years. Out on the wing would not have cut it.

I would never upset fellow passengers. The most I would do is the same as on an Air Icelandic flight to Luxembourg after dinner when the stewardess seemed tired of bringing us shots of free brandy and wanted to sleep.
Excuse me, would you bring us two bottles of brandy and a couple of sodas and then you could go to sleep. She did, we and and landed safely.
