In 1854 a Texas Courthouse, now City Hall...........
When Castroville, Texas became the County Seat for Medina County in 1848, they operated out of temporary quarters until this Courthouse was built in 1854. It was constructed from native limestone, with walls eighteen inches thick.
In 1892, the County Seat was moved to Hondo, Texas, and the old Courthouse was turned into a school. Over the years a few additions were made, wings added to the building, and the front steps to the second story.
In 1968, the school was closed and the old building became City Hall, and remains so to this day.
When I took this picture, it was cold, cloudy, and fixin to rain and getting dark as the clouds got thicker. I used a Sony A300 DSLR camera with a vintage (1985) Minolta 28-85mm F3.5/4.5 lens. Settings were 1/320 second, F9, and ISO 100. Tejaswrangler :)
Defiantly has a Texas look to it. ;) Thanks for posting and including the history behind the building.

UP-2-IT, like you, I don't think they build them the same any more, pride in workmanship is lacking. Thanks for viewing the picture. :)
Been there. Castroville had a very nice campground also. Good eats locally. Can't remember where.
Awesome! Old buildings are great subjects.
