Just successfully downloaded Topaz Adjust trial version and grabbed a quick shot to play with. Looks like a fun program if not overused.

A little overdone IMHO. These types of software are great, but they do make it easy to go overboard sometimes.

It is a nice improvement,,but I would tone it down a bit.

I thought the same. The original actually looked a little darker and had better contrast. I might have to look into some of the monitor adjustment devices but I feel like I will still get some variance on prints depending on the lab. I do appreciate the input.

I've been playing around with that and a few more shots. Just getting a feel. Using Topaz as a plug-in to Elements 10. The learning curve on Topaz is pretty short for the basics. Right now it seems a good combination. I was considering the Nik software but it doesn't seem to be compatible with Elements. Anyways always fun to experiment. I did remove the tree to the inside of the turn and retouched the road a bit. I try not to overdo the PP.

There is somewhere that you can back off on the blue to make the road look more road like. I like pushing colors and detail to be more art like... continue to play with some of your old grayish dull yuck photos and they come alive.

If you buy PSP X5 you get NIK free, tho it is #3 not #4 issue. But, hay, free. Also a face program. Check it out,,, around $50,,, be sure to the the ULTIMATE issue it is the one that has the freebees

Watch your noise, easy to lose control of it with Topaz

I noticed. Just did a few 8x10's of some other shots and was amazed at the "grain" appearance. Thanks for the heads up. I going to print the same shots from the original and compare.

Nik software is very compatible as a plug-in with Elements 10. I use it all the time in Elements 10 and even used it in Elements 6 before I upgraded.

At first I read "watch your nose" and that made me cross (eyed). You sound like the type of person who would warn, don't kiss any one, disease you know, yuck.. !!!

As with ANY of the edit programs if you push parameters too far you will get grain, blotching, and so on; this is NOT limited to TOPAZ. To be a nay sayer is easy and not constructive and dashes cold water on enthusiasm. :XD:

If one indeed has found a problem, then one should give a detail, and a solution; as in a pretend comment... "Noise can be a problem if you push too far, so pick a ++ and view an area in the sky where a slider too far will show up. Good advice for any adjustment, but in the mean time, push those controls to the limit to see just what the effect will be, fun, then back off if you are serious about the shot."

One of their Webinars was specific to work flow. As I recall deNoise was the first program you run so that you do not amplify noise that was there in the original photo. If there is excess noise in the original, it will be treated as a fine detail as one would expect. So, Pounder35, enjoy playing with Topaz and if you get board or are working with one of those fun 3D programs, then indeed, "Watch your Nose".
