With no NHL games this season, at least there are AHL games being played. My son and his friend are fans of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and have season tickets for games played in Mohegan Sun Arena.
Arena policy is "no cameras with removable lenses and no flash." My son takes my Canon Powershot S3 IS camera with him and is restricted to shooting thru the glass. His seat is at rink side so it makes it easier to get pics, but the dirty glass with is smudges and scratches don't make for very good pics. I PP the "snapshots" w/PSE8 as best I could.
Here are some pics he took at a recent game between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Norfolk.

Lighting is the issue, all rinks are not the same.

I don't know who you're directing this to. I never had a thread highjacked before. :-( But if its about my pics, we set the camera for AWB and Color Correct in Post if necessary. The arena where my pics were taken has excellent lighting, so there's not much to do about WB. Thanks for looking.

Sorry, I was just offering alternatives for shooting Hockey my photos were to show "You" the same type of shots were available wth shorter participants.
Sorry directing to you. Thanks for the info. Does the AHL have rules in their arenas concerning taking of pictures?

I'm not sure about the AHL, but the local arena has their picture taking restrictions posted. They have a box with holes in the glass where the pros can take pics. My son would like nothing better than to take my 50D w/70-200 L lens and shoot thru the holes, but he says its a no no. Thanks for asking.
