Help with "Frame" please

Could I get some suggestions please on how people go about "framing" (or putting a border around) their digital images? I've watched a tutorial for PE 10 and can't seem to get it to work properly. There must be a simple way.

I also struggle with the best way to watermark the images - I've tried the Brush in PE10 and struggle a bit.

I know this stuff is basic for most, but I'd certainly appreciate any pointers you could share (or point me to).

Many thanks!

The easiest way to add simple frames is with Picasa (Free download from Google). It will also let you add watermarks when exporting images.
Personally I do not see any reason for watermarking photos except for advertising. It detracts too much from the photo, and for those who want to, it can be relatively easily removed with editing software.

This is a reasonable tutorial for making a frame...

I use IrfanView for frames - it works for me.
Picasa hasn't the same control over thickness/width of lines and frames as IrfanView (it's a free download)

Picasa is very good for adding a name/title to a picture - any place, 'any' colour, any size, any angle, any font.

I don't find Photoscape either intuitive, friendly, or particularly useful, so I don't use it - but that is my choice.

So I use both IrfanView and Picasa.

Thanks much for the responses. I'll check out all sources. Picasa seemed manageable for me.

Much appreciated.

GHK says: You don't really need any fancy gimmicks; its easy enough to do it from scratch.
I can only speak about Photoshop, but Elements should be pretty much the same.
Even if I don't want to add a full border, I usually put a VERY narrow border around my image; either black or a dark colour picked off the image with the eyedropper (just click on the image and the colour under the cursor will appear in the Tools Menu as the foreground colour. Next, go to Image > Canvass size, click Relative and choose 'Pixels' from the drop down and also Foreground Color.
Choose 2 or 4 for both Height and Width, and click Enter. This will put a 1 or 2 pixel border on the image which will be barely noticeable. Note that you need to enter double the border width you want because it splits half on each side.
For a proper border, select another foreground colour and repeat the above procedure with a more realistic width - best to do this in cm. or inch. (Remember to double it).
You can repeat to get as many sections of border as you want; I normally do just one more, this being the same dark colour as before, but narrower than the pale one, but this is just my preference - you can do your own thing.
