Photo sessions.. Opinions needed..
Hello my name is Tracy and I am new to is board..I have always had a love for photography and I now want to use my love for this and make it into a small fun gig... I have attached 3 pics please be honest...
Your detail is a little soft on all photos..You have good capture and composition, but no POP/WOW,maybe camera settings...
Can you tell me what maybe would give them a wow??
With the back ground blurred...the focus becomes the 2 people in the foreground of the picture....what do you think?
Back Ground blurr
I do very much like that...
Like number 3 a lot...creative.
The biggest problem is color and tone contrast. Color correction would probably help. The dead center shot of the couple on the railroad is not well composed. The couple needs to be lower more up front in the frame.
Shots of couples in the open sun like this are usually better with flash.
If you have no flash your better off shooting in the shade.
I am usually not a fan of natural light shots where the background is converted to B&W. I have broken this rule when the subject is shot in studio and composited into a B&W background. I only did that because it was a commercial requirement.

Focus is soft and level horizon
I find it distracting that the pictures are not level. Easy to fix.
Love the composition in #3.

All three are composed well but seem to be very soft in the focus and somewhat washed out in tone! My .02 worth!!

Tracy,
First off, Welcome to the group. You've come to the right place to have fun and learn. Don't let the critiques turn you off. Most everyone here just wants to help, however there are a few...
Like all 3 of your shots.
#1 seems a little soft on the focus although it could just me my old tired eyes. A word of caution about photographing on railroad property. It's privat property and posted no trespassing, at least here in Texas. It cost me $300 to learn that lesson.
When shooting anything that has an eye showing (person, animal, statue or art) focus on the eye that is closest to the camera.
Like #2. I like the hazy look of the photo, but that's just me.
Love the concept in #3. The print looks a little flat, maybe just boost the contrast a little.
Hope this helps some.
Have an great New Year, just don't party too hard tonight.
Thank you all for your replies I find them very helpful and I will keep them all in mind next time I start to shoot...
The tracks we go to ate in a park we pay tongetbin but thanks for the ttip I will b cautious and not go on any others.
What don't mean it looks flat... Any suggestions on how to make not flat so I can correct..
