Zoom lens creep

This is directed to MT Shooter due to a previous correspondence, but applies to many. I have a Nikon 18-200 which suffers from zoom creep when tilted down. I solved the problem by using one of the popular rubber wrist bands

Since that time, I have purchased the Nikon 28-300, which is a physically bigger lens. Yesterday, while in a grocery store, I noticed these wristbands at the checkout for $1. I bought one and it is a perfect fit. Just position it at the zoom ring to add just enough drag to keep the "creeps" away, and all is good.

I hope this helps at least one person.

The 28-300mm has a zoom lock that can be engaged at the 28mm end to prevent this, as does the 18-200mm VR II model. Those generic wristbands are handy to have and are excatly the same as the pricey bands sold on Ebay and through other photographic sources. I have 2 Live Strong bands in my camera case just to have them. They are also handy to attach a makeshift bounce card to my SB-910 Speedlight.

They work well. I have one on my Tamron 18-270.
