Just returned from South Africa and going on safari, I took this shot of a Lion and I think its good, or is it? also I cannot make up my mind, Colour or Black & White? also any constructive criticism would be most welcome.

I like the softness of the colour and the highlighted detail of the B&W. 2 nice shots

Have you tried using HDR to pull out more contrast? Love the shot!

Color, to see the lion. Black and White, to see the background. Have to go with the color.

Agree with JR, kick up the contrast a notch and it will enhance the character of the shot.

Thanks for your comments, amazing thing in South Africa at the Amakhala Game Reserve where we were, no guns, and at times we were only a few feet away from Lions, Cheetahs. etc.

I Love Both Versions . I Love Monochrome Images I Think They Tend To Show More Detail An Have A Better Impact For The Viewer. I Love Wildlife Photography But Don't Seem To Get Good Results.

The color of the background is similar to the predominate color in the lion and he does't stand out as in the monochrome where the texture(contrast)
