Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 DI-II VC PZD Piezo Drive
Have you used one of these? How do you rate it?
A great all around walk around lens.
Have it on my D90.
If you can get, do it!
On my d7000, I use either 28-300 or 18-270.
Yes, this is a great all around lens. It takes sharp pictures and has a five year guarantee unlike most lenses that only have a twelve month guarantee.

I use it regularly and am happy. Takes good sharp photos. Lens creeps some.
Hi Kam... Yes, I have and use this lens on my Nikon D200. Outstanding lens for the money. Although some users claim slipping, it hasn't happened to mine. There is however a sticking point while in mid-range zoom. It feels as if the zoom part has reached its end, but with a little more torque is continues to its full range. This is easily over come after regular use and familiarity. You can't go wrong if you buy it.
They all creep, my grandson helped with mine he gave me one of his Middle school wrist bands. Put it on the barrel where you adjust the tele and your problem will be fixed.
Thank you each and everyone. Time to decide now.
Ditto on all the other "have used" comments. I have had very good use/service from mine.
Not sure about this one but would it be lighter than the Sigma. That is what I have and want to go 'lighter'.

I don't have that lens, but am very satisfied with the quality of tamaron lenses . I have a 90-300 and a 28-105 both are film lenses, and both work great.
Have it and it seldom leaves my D7000. Here are a few shots to show how versatile it is..........
Lovers Lane---Winter
Mississippi River Basin
Lily 144
Janiva Magness--Bayfront Blues Festival
Eye of the Tiger
I have one on a D90 and am very satisfied.
Good shooting
Have it on my Canon T2i and wouldn't part with it.
I had a major issue with mine The focus ring mechanism teeth were stripped here and there and would not focus properly. I sent it in for service and they originally were going to charge me but then called and did it for free. I bought it from Amazon. I think what happened is somebody returned it damaged and I got it when it was recycled. Tamron stood behind their product even though it was not their our my fault. I was impressed. Kudos to them.
Having said that the lens works fine, probably better than I expected far as focus. It does have some lens creep when pointing it up or down at steep angles. If you need tack sharp images through the whole focal range then you might want to consider something else. It doesn't come close to matching my L lenses but is as good or better than equivalent lens with ultra wide zoom ranges. I understand Sigma has just come out with a new version of their 18-250. I tried the previous version a few months back while my Tamron was being serviced. It was decent but I think the Tamron was better overall on sharpness. Both are great for what they're intended to be.
