I've been a fan of UHH for over a year, but haven't made any comments or submitted any photos. So, instead of just taking advantage of all the expert advice and opinions, I guess I'd better start contributing something. This is a photo of my Shiba Inu, Nyla, my friend and companion. Any comments regarding the improvement of this photo would be much appreciated. Since I've never uploaded a photo before, I'm hoping this works.

Just relaxin'

Nyla thanks you for the compliments. I forgot to enter camera info: Canon 60D, f5, 1/60. 70mm, used on-board flash - had to catch her while she was cooperating.

I loved the angle you captured her from, and the lighting + I really like the "background." Seems like you got the best possible result of an already beautiful breed.

What a wonderful portrait of your Shiba. My son just lost his this summer and he is sorely missed. great dog and surprisingly good with their baby. I might think of making a tighter crop, like getting rid of the chair arms.

I was thinking the same thing. Does her human subordinate ever get to sit in that chair? Nice shot of a good looking dog.

I've tried the suggested cropping, but can't seem to find a way to upload it for additional comments/suggestions. Hmmm.

She lets me sit in "our" recliner as long as she can use my lap as a replacement. But that's okay with me. It's a reasonable tradeoff.

Here's the cropped version. I think I'm doing this right.

Shiba Inu, escape artist and professional landscaper. Love that they do not bark but our Shiba will rip down a wood fence to get out for a run. Collected him from the pound several times. Good photo. Need another picture showing off her curly tail :)
