I live in east Tennessee, 30 minutes from the western entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

While out doing a Christmas bird count today, with a friend, he mentioned this website. He said that it was a great source of information and opinion. So here I am .....

I have been taking pictures for about 5 years ... photographs for maybe 4 years ... self taught and learning everyday. Fortunate to have some very skilled "photographer friends."

My photographic passion is wildlife, especially birds ... our children are grown and married so I found this addictive expensive hobby!

Santa brought me a Canon 5D Mark III and I also have a 1D Mark III and a 7D .... and some big white lenses.

One of my recent images .... Black Bear
(taken in Cades Cove / GSMNP)

Welcome and beautiful shot. Go to Cades Cove every year and have a bear only once shile some stupid people were chasing it through the trees. If I lived as close as you do I would be there every day. Please post more of your shots. The bear is excellent.

Ever been o Horicon Marsh near central Wisconsin? Thousands of geese stop there when fall hits. Really something to see (and hear!)

Mapster - I have not made the trip to Horicon Marsh yet. I have internet wildlife photography friend that shoots there often and he keeps inviting me to meet him there. On my bucket list .....

Welcome fellow Tennessean. :)
You have come to a great place to learn & share.
Smokies is one of my favorite places to shoot...it has a varied array
of things to shoot ..I love it. You may see me sitting in middle of creek on a rock in roaring fork shooting some day..lol
Great shots...love the clarity & detail in your bear shot.
