Royalty free, download free, but for low resolution, otherwise $1 and $2 each depending on resolution. However, it is still a very good reference site. Thank You, Dirtpusher.. one can reduce the resolution on your overlay subject and play with the back grounds.
If you find the desired background then either purchase the desired resolution or try up-sizing low resolution freebee. There are up-sizing algorithms available. Not sure how well that works... any one with experience upgrading size with programs like Faststone resize?
