Had a Canon printer. Good printer and it eventually wore out after a number of years. Bought an Epson. Had problems with the print heads after a couple of months. Bought another Epson, and print heads went within the year.

For the past 2 years I have had a Canon Pro9000 MarkII printer. Best Ive owned to date. I would recommend it.

For many years I always used Epson but had many issues - ink cartridges were also too expensive and when Epson decided it was time to charge me for a service they had an inbuilt program that stops the printer functioning even when there is no problem.
I switched to Canon and have never looked back.

I have an MGS250 All-in-One ( 6 inks ) and it prints very good pictures and the inbuilt scanner is first class.
If you have any pictures which are special to you the using Canon brand A4 paper gives a spectacular result.

Canon is not necessarily the way to go. I have been using Epson printers for year and years with no problems. The have the best color reproduction all in all.

If you a considering Epson, Check out anything in their Artisan series. I refill my own cartridges with a high quality ink and it comes out to 33 cents a cartridge. The Artisans also print DVDs. And they won't break your budget. They also have some other models that will print bigger stuff that can be bought at reasonable prices.
