Canon Speedlite question

Tomorrow I will be taking family photos using my T2si and Speedlite 430EX. I've been working with it this afternoon using the 10 second continuous shooting function. The speedlite only flashes about every 3-4 counts of the green light so I end up with only 2 or 3 images that are properly flashed with the speedlite.
With my Nikon P100 you have a 2 sec timer and a 10 sec timer which only flashes once.
Is there any way to set the T2si/speedlite to give me 10 seconds to get in the picture and only flash once?

You indicated you are using the CONTINUOUS shooting function. Change to the TIMER function set to 10sec for the DELAYED shutter snap which would activate the flash at that time. Continuous will try to activate the flash for every snap and won't be able to cycle fast enough to actually fire every time.

Are you using your flash on full power? Anything less will, exponentially, recycle faster.

Similar to what I was going to say. First, make sure you are using good batteries in you Speedlite. Don't use cheap batteries, use good Alkaline batteries or good rechargeables. Adjust so you are close enough to the subject that the flash will use 1/2 or less power so it will recycle faster. Moving the flash off the camera and closer to your subject will allow you to cut the flash power. Use manual flash settings so you know what flash power to 'you' choose to set. In E-TTL, the Speedlite won't tell you what power setting it's using. In manual, 'you' choose power settings.
