Just look at that adorable creature! He does look to be thinking, "excuse me, kind sir, by chance could you spare a seed or two?"

Makes me think of Squirrel gravy and picking the buck shot out of it. Nothing better than hot squirrel gravy and biscuit. Rabbit is not bad either.

We think alike when it comes to squirrel & Rabbit (in gravy).

Thank you all for your comments.
This lil tree rat is a yard visitor and immune from the .22.
While serving in the wilds of Alaska we usually took squirrels and hares for the stewpot. Yummy
Camping consisted of roughing it for a few days when not out in the field doing "Army Stuff"
AR7 22 camp gun ( and a 12 guage with slugs, bears you know)
and a shelter half and a buck knife a few spuds onions and some salt and pepper, lemon and tinfoil with a little fishing rig made a great time in the woods.

SOWY, my former years as a hunter ingrained in me some characteristics I have yet to overcome.
This particular critter is a regular at my window and begs when the feeders get low. I consider "Tree Rat" a term of endearment.
Squirrels I used to eat, This lil dude is more of a neighborhood friend.
Peace ( and good eating)

Okay... well that's better. Good thing you elaborated, else I was gonna tell said lil dude what you called 'im! I'm like that yanno! ;)

(I grew up feeding the animals twice a day at my childhood, in-town home.... Mother spent hundreds a month on various seeds and nuts and suet and the like this time of year. She also had select squirrels... er... "tree rats".... come to the kitchen window for hand-outs. Those are the ONLY good memories I have of childhood.)

We have a little family, this daddy brings his youngsters areound for hand outs, peanuts and corn cob chunks and take them from our hands. In summer we sit in the yard after work and watch the birds, the squirrels are very comfortable with us. Once or twice daddy would sit on the arm of my adirondak chair as I sipped my afternoon wine.
and eat the peanuts on the chair.
Very good for calming after a hectic days work.
