A very impressive conversion - excellent finish.
One question, the colour pic posted, is that the actual original? I cannot see the details in the blown out highlights which are clearly evident in the BW or have you somehow drawn them in? Whatever method, a really good finished product.

This would make a great template for engraving onto crystal.

I actually ruined the original. This was as close as a could restore it. The detail was there. I did not paint in anything.

ljmeis76...
I was getting ready to leave this forum because of all the squabbles, politics and rudeness, but after seeing your achievement I know there is much to learn and even more to aspire to. I'll put up with all the negatives just to see more of this kind of work.

I hope you drop a few hints on how you did the separation but I would not blame you if you declined to do so.

To Isolate the flowers I used PS 5 quick mask. This does not do a 100% job the first time around. I see it twice and still had to use a brush to paint on the mask . After that it was easy. I used PS camera raw to convert to B&W. I recently purchased a magazine "Black and White Photography made easy" in Barnes and Noble. This outlines several ways to convert with PS and Elements. It was well worth the $30. Also there are literally hundreds of free tutorials online on how to do just about everything. Google PS quick mask and see. THat was how I got the idea to convert portraits to charcoal drawing like images.
