I live 13 miles south of Detroit, were 4 different habitats come together at my back fence, marsh, field, woods and brush. I built a small 2 story shed with a balcony that over looks this area. Everything is just right for an amazing amount of wildlife while being unnoticed by almost everyone. Most of the pictures I take are from that balcony. I use a Nikon D40 and a nikkor 55-300 lens. Welcome! Sounds like you have a great location. You do not necessarily need loads of expensive equipment to get very good photogaphs.
