Hey HOGS. I am planning to upgrade to a new camera.
I presently shoot a Nikon D700.
Has the AF problem been resolved in the D800?
Thanks in advance !!!

No matter what the product, you can find someone online complaining about a problem with it - something that really doesn't matter to 99.9% of the people who own that product. If you are waiting to buy a perfect product, you will have a long wait. I remember a friend who resisted buying a color TV for decades. He was waiting for it "to be perfected." He didn't think the colors looked right.

I am from Torrance California. Just NORTH of you. How are things in CA. I moved to Alabama not too long ago. I really miss CA. My family still lives there. Brought the wife and kids to AL. Major climate change.

I've heard that Nikon has addressed this auto-focus right/left differential anomaly, so if you buy a new camera that was manufactured in the later part of 2012 you should be OK. But I'm not certain about that. I'm also not clear as to whether all D800's were affected, and whether the magnitude of the anomaly varied considerably or was consistent. Nikon seems to have kept that information closely guarded.
However, if it is a camera made in 2011 or a used D800, then calibration by a service center may be required. Whether this is under warranty or not is not clear for second owners.

Thanks so much. From what I read, I am going to hold off. Thanks again for the info.😊
